34F bpd woman here. My advice is to take this seriously. I know after a year you are surely attached. BPD usually improves or even massively improves with age but it takes years. Everyone is different but mine wasn't significantly improved until my 30s. BPd people in their teens and early 20s have a very hard time in life and so do their partners.

BPD is a neurotic illness. It is a label of a set of behaviors outside of accepted norms. As such, I want an honest discussion about what happened and why. Despite what a BPD community believes, most relationships don't end in a flaming mess with no contact rules. People grow by understanding what went wrong. Holding yourself accountable is one of the best things anyone with BPD can do not just for others but themselves.
